'The National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts',International Mecca of Culture and Art, The Jindo islands are renowned for their abundant heritage of traditional cultural.With the cultural tradition in this region as a cornerstone, the National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts was established in July 7, 2004 to categorize,preserve and further develop the local cultural asset.

Jindo possesses a number of the intangible national cultural properties, provincial cultural properties and many other traditional cultural inheritance. Among the intangible cultural assets are 'Ssitgimgut','Dasiraegi','Namdo Deulnorae(field working song)','Ganggangsuwollae','Manga(dirge)','Buknori'(Drum playing),'Japga'and'Jindo Ariang',original sound of koreans. Such cultural potential of Jindo has placed the island as a rich repository of traditional art and so it is indeed the best site for placing the national music center.'

With the outstanding cultural environment, the National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts is equipped with good facilities and scales to perform its role as an official organization to preserve and develop the traditional culture. Beautiful landscape with mountains and ocean view around the center,many sites for culture experience and precious folk culture of Jindo and its neighboring southwest islands become both natural and cultural surroundings of this center. The beautiful environments and the programs provided by this center will place this center the international mecca of culture and arts as a unique place for experiencing the traditional culture of Korea to both tourists and those who come for training purpose either domestic or foreign.

The major programs provided by the National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts range from performances, training & experience program to research of Korean traditional music. Pleasant accommodation and beautiful natural environment of this center will surely refresh those who come here despite of its long distance for training or experience with emotional relief making up for the remote location of this center.

The objective of National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts is to set itself as a good example of national music institute by well fitting into and further developing the local cultural environment.
