To preserve the original shape of, to creatively inherit, to excavate the
traditional music resources by accepting folk music and to develop education
and performance proper for the local area, in September, 1999, the plan to
establish the National Namdo Center for Korean Performing Arts at Jindo, a
treasure island of arts, was initiated and the center was opened on July, 7,
2004. Now, it provides various performances, programs of training or
experiences, and research activities.
